Title of the talk: Stable determination of time-dependent matrix potential in a wave equation

Abstract: We analyze the stability of an inverse problem for determining the time-dependent matrix potential appearing in the Dirichlet initial-boundary value problem for the wave equation from knowledge of the input-output map. Considering a suitable geometric optics solution and with the help of light ray transform, we demonstrate the logarithmic type stability estimate in the determination of the time-dependent matrix potential.

About the Speaker:
Dr. Tanmay Sarkar is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Mathematics at IIT Jammu. He obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Mathematics from IIT Madras. Before joining IIT Jammu, he carried out postdoctoral research at TIFR-CAM Bangalore, and IISc Bangalore.
Dr. Sarkar's research interests are primarily in Partial Differential Equations and Numerical Analysis, with particular emphasis on hyperbolic conservation laws and their numerical approximation, nonlinear dispersive equations including the Korteweg–de Vries (KdV) equation, discontinuous Galerkin methods for evolution equations, inverse problems related to PDEs, and optimal control of evolution equations.
He has published research in several areas of computational and applied mathematics and is actively involved in research, teaching, and supervision of doctoral students in PDEs and numerical analysis.
