Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi invites industries,
manufacturers, startups, MSMEs, and corporate partners to collaborate for the commercial
utilisation of a licensed and patented sustainable technology for next-generation biodegradable
packaging and eco-materials for the following innovations, which have been summarised:
• “A process for fabricating biodegradable packaging material ”
The technologies have been developed to convert coconut coir, fibre, and its components into high
quality biodegradable packaging materials, papers, white or colored fibres, etc. The invention is
patent-published and licensed, and IIT (BHU) is now open to strategic industry tie-ups for large
scale manufacturing and commercialisation. The technology enables the production of coconut
coir and fibre-based eco-friendly and sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics while
maintaining excellent functional performance with application in sectors of Industrial packaging,
Filtration, food and beverage packaging, etc.
Invitation for Industrial Tie-Up
IIT (BHU) is seeking partners for:
• Technology adoption and commercial production
• Product development using the technology
• Market deployment and distribution
• Strategic long-term collaboration
Industries with capabilities in the sector of coconut fibre or coir processing, packaging, pulp &
paper, agro-processing, or sustainable manufacturing are especially encouraged to participate.
