Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi invites industries,
manufacturers, startups, MSMEs, and corporate partners to collaborate for commercial
utilization of a licensed and patented sustainable technology for next-generation biodegradable
packaging and eco-materials for the following innovations which have been summarized:
“A method of preparation of a biodegradable packaging material from sugarcane bagasse”
“A method of preparation of biodegradable packaging material from rice straws”
The technologies has been developed to convert Rice and sugarcane bagasse (agricultural
waste) into high-quality biodegradable packaging materials. The invention is patent-published
and licensed, and IIT (BHU) is now open to strategic industry tie-ups for large-scale
manufacturing and commercialization. The technology enables production of eco-friendly
alternatives to single-use plastics while maintaining excellent functional performance with
application in sectors of Food and beverage packaging, Disposable tableware manufacturing,
Dairy and agro-product packaging, FMCG packaging solutions, e-commerce protective
packaging, and Sustainable materials manufacturing.
